it is rumored that the bottle of the world's most legendary perfume, chanel no. 5, was designed to perfectly match the shape of Place Vendome. why this is still only a rumor, i can't say. i mean, just look at the photo below. of course, i guess in 1921, they didn't exactly have google earth to show them what the shape was...but there were other means, i'm sure.

the iconic bottle has been a source of inspiration for many artists, including warhol and my fave illustrator (previously mentioned on this blog)...

oddly, i am not a fan of the scent, but the bottle is one of my favorite designs of all time.
